Why does it cost this much?
Bathrooms are the most labor-intensive room per square foot. Proper waterproofing, plumbing, tile work, and ventilation require skilled tradespeople. Tile and labor account for ~40% of cost. Plumbing and fixtures ~25%. Vanity, countertop, and cabinetry ~20%. The rest covers permits, design, and project management.

Yes. Tub-to-shower conversions are one of our most popular requests. This involves removing the tub, reworking the drain and plumbing, waterproofing, and installing a new shower pan or curbless entry. We handle permits and inspections for the plumbing changes.
If you're moving plumbing, adding or relocating electrical, or making structural changes, yes, you need permits in San Diego. Cosmetic updates (new tile over existing, paint, fixtures on existing plumbing) typically don't. We assess this at your consultation and handle all permitting.
Waterproofing is critical and non-negotiable on every bathroom we build. We use membrane systems (Kerdi or equivalent) on all shower walls and floors before any tile goes up. This prevents moisture damage and mold behind the walls, the most common failure point in bathroom remodels.
